Mickey & Michelle Mickey & Michelle are a harp and fiddle duo from Australia who seamlessly blend contemporary folk and jazz together in a rich, unique style of their own. Their 2019 debut album ‘A Walking Pace’ perfectly showcases the duo’s intricate sound and unusual combination of styles. Michelle Doyle was born into an incredibly musical family and has been performing professionally from the age of 11. Since then she has gone on to perform with the likes of Paul Kelly, Shane Howard and Fiona Ross. Her compositions on this album are deeply rooted in Celtic music while also balancing her attention to detail and nuanced phrasing from her classical studies. Mickey O'Donnell on the other hand developed such a passion for jazz and his playful improvisations are ever-present in his original compositions. He also takes great delight in reinterpreting traditional Americana tunes with jazz harmony and Afro-Cuban polyrhythms. The dynamic duo have returned from their most challenging adventure yet; a 6 month tour on foot of NZ’s 3000km ‘Te Araroa’ trail. Mickey & Michelle are excited to share their experiences and music in their home country. https://www.mickeymichelle.com/ https://mickeymichelle.bandcamp.com/album/a-walking-pace

LACEY COLE (Duo) It only took a global pandemic for Lacey to pick up his guitar again with an ambition that exceeded the four-walls of his living room. After being something of a mainstay in Sydney's local scene for years as part of the alt-country outfit Lazy Colts it has taken a minute for him to, once again, find his voice as a solo artist. Now he returns with the first of two EP's titled Badwater, a collection of songs that stylistically harken back to the simplicity and clarity of his debut album Other Ways to Say the Same Thing (2014) but with the added maturity he has gained as a songwriter. There is a rawness and honesty to Lacey's music, a vulnerability to both his lyrics and delivery that draws the listener into the world of each song. Without a band around him, this vulnerability is even more apparent along with his wry observations, playful turn of phrase and lilting melodies. Accompanying Lacey, both on the Badwater EPs and in live performances are the soaring harmonies of Christine Hazelwood. Like beams of sun piercing through clouds, her voice compliments Lacey's smokey timbre and crystallises the reluctant beauty that lurks beneath the surface of each of his songs. MORNING BEAR

The brainchild of Denver-based singer/songwriter John Runnels, Morning Bear is an orchestral indie folk project that channels emotion through vivid imagery and intricate melodies. Morning Bear was formed when Runnels quit his dayjob as an engineer and took a one-way ticket to Europe. From the streets of Sevilla, Spain to the botanic gardens of Copenhagen, the songs touch on following your dreams, growing older, and the doubts of life and love. Characterized by highly dynamic compositions, Morning Bear’s music is a synthesis of the calm and delicate stylings of artists like Bon Iver and Jose Gonzalez with the complexity and depth of the Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens. Featuring soaring vocals and atypical arrangements including cello, violin, piano and more, Morning Bear provides a textured landscape behind pop-influenced hooks. Since forming in early 2014, Morning Bear has released two EP's, has toured extensively both nationally and internationally has had their music on rotation at college and public radio, including NPR. In 2018, Morning Bear was invited to play Red Rocks amphitheater for the Film on the Rocks series. TOM MYERS

Founding member of Papa Vs Pretty drummer Tom Myers has toured extensively performing with many including Kim Churchill, Jack River, Thelma Plum and most recently Dean Lewis.
Tom has step down from the dais, emerged from behind the drum kit and retracted the digit to shortly deliver his debut EP. Written and recorded over eighteen months, Tom may have played everything including the kitchen sink, collaborating with Gus Gardiner brought more than cello, the result is achingly beautiful. Profound in it's exploration of the human condition, catharsis may have been the catalyst however ultimately it honours the transcendence of love.

'Slack Off Sundays' - Rebecca Mann

Aunty Ed's, 12/122 Katoomba St, Katoomba

Slack-Off Sundays: It’s Sunday night, which means tomorrow is Monday. You could stay at home and iron a couple of long-sleeved shirts for the week ahead, but let's face it, you're gonna sit on the couch and watch TV and leave that chore to the morning. Forget that, head out to Aunty Ed's, grab a great meal and catch some of the best live music in NSW! 6:00-8:00 pm, family-friendly, free event. Slack-off this Sunday and make the weekend last a little longerl

Reservations: Reservations are recommended for booth seating, however, please note that booths will only be reserved for patrons intending to enjoy a meal . . . but don't worry, if you're just coming along for a drink and/or a nibble, there are communal tables and bar stools on the lower level. Aunty Ed's offers full table service for diners.

What is Aunty Ed's?: The best-est and most kitschi-est slice of retro Australiana this side of Paul Hogan throwing a prawn on the barbie! Put on your best 'thongs' (those are flip-flops, or 'flimsy sandals' for our non 'occa' speaking friends) and head to Katoomba's best 'underground' restaurant and bar (it's not a secret, it's literally under the ground in a basement - we'd keep it a secret but that's bad for business). Forget small servings of deconstructed dishes that you saw last night on Masterchef (who wants a meal out that requires assembly anyway), think 'chips, bits and gravy', 'chicken parma bites', 'meat & 3 veg', or a 'zucchini burger' for those who choose to make friends with salad. Whilst the food might remind you of a time when your grandmother used to make you a spam sandwich before you went outside to run under a sprinkler (the smartest thing kids had to play with before iPhones), the bar is all about the best beer, wine and cider you can get your hands on today . . . but don't worry - beer comes in 'tinnies' so you’ll feel right at home. If that doesn't take the lamington, Aunty Jack's is home to the best cocktails (and mocktails) in the Mountains. Long story short, the food is tasty, the bar is 'fully stocked' bro, and it’s family friendly . . . and your Aunty is welcome (even if she has a moustache).

Where is Aunty Ed’s?: 122 Katoomba Street, Katoomba. If you're driving and hit Echo Point, Skippy or the Milkybar kid - turn around and ask for directions . . . unless you're a man, in which case you continue driving until you’re ready to admit you're lost.

. . . Who is Aunty Ed?: There’s an Aunty Ed in every family. The one who never had kids of her own but knew family was more important than anything; who travelled far and wide but always called Australia home; who wasn’t afraid to break from tradition, making new ones of her own along the way; who was unconventional and unpredictable, but always loyal and dependable; who collected trinkets wherever she went, but knew memories were the best souvenirs; who was the keeper of all the family recipes and secret ingredients; There’s an Aunty Ed in every family.
